The trail itself has lots of shade and a couple spots to access the water. Horses are also able to use this trail. Next time I'll take the east trail.I make it a point to come here once a year. Save yourself the unrewarding trump through the cow patties and the 750 elevation gain. Bring bug spray and water. Super helpful salesman mapped a route for me to avoid it. A turf trail for horseback riding and hiking runs parallel within Baker Park Reserve, south of County Road 115. My kids loved it (age 8 - 14). The first 1.7 miles parallel the river and are mostly shaded.
