There is camping and lodging at Mundo Hot Springs and several other places along or near this segment of trail. The replacement of the Plantation Islsnd bridge and pavement on the island is great.
There are also plenty of mountainous (off road) running, hiking, mountain bike trails close to the Greenbelt, don't miss those!
Leading out of the city both north-west and south-east, the trail connects suburbs with parks and the Lucky Peak State Recreation Area. Best nearby. The Boise River is a popular destination for floating and fishing. 17 Other Attractions within 0.75 miles. from W State St and SR 44 (Eagle) to Lucky Peak State Recreation Area. Riding this trail is pure entertainment.
Today you can ride paved trail from Eagle Idaho all the way to Lucky Peak Dam to the east. The City of Boise continued to slowly piece together a patchwork of land along the corridor using several methods of acquisition including purchase, exchange, leasing and receiving donations of property by individuals, civic groups and corporations.Also on the north bank, approximately 1/4 mile west of Glenwood Bridge the greenbelt becomes a bicycle dismount zone at the Riverside Village residential development. As of April 2008 Garden City has made it a misdemeanor to ride a bicycle on the greenbelt through Riverside Village.
Stopped about half way so boys could take a dip in river. New trail addition at west end of trail in Eagle is a great addition.
When it dries out it is still a great trail you will have to ride part and find the detour around the missing bridge to continue on.Have been looking for a good map of the Boise Greenbelt, but this is not it, Yet.It is a good start but missing the trails that run on both sides. A local grassroots effort to clean up the waterway and create public access to the river corridor began to take hold.
This section is almost all away from the highway and other roads, so very peaceful. The 25-mile Boise River Greenbelt is one of Boise's most beloved parks. I would rename this one the “Emerald Trail” because a good portion of the trail is lined with massive deciduous trees (think very green) which, along with the Boise River, actually cools the trail significantly during Boise’s hot summer months.
This stretch of the trail can compete with any trails I have seen pics in brochures. We traveled 20 miles of the tail and did not see any other riders.
